The Gurus

Our tech expert James Godfrey – manager of ba.com and mobile development – has been busy answering your questions about the British Airways app, the future of the Blue card and all things digital on the Executive Club front

Is the BA app available in other languages apart from English?
For the moment, our mobile apps are only available in English. Our mobile website, however, is available in 12 languages. We will trial a language version of our app this year, which will help us understand user demand.

I often use BA’s mobile boarding pass, but by the time I get to the plane it’s cleared from my screen. How do I make it stay?
When you get your mobile boarding pass on your iPhone, press the ‘add’ button on the top right of the screen. This adds the boarding pass to Passbook, which makes it easy to access, and available when you don’t have any data connection.

I’m a new Blue Club Member but haven’t received a membership card. What do I do?
You can access a digital version by logging into your account on ba.com or by accessing the BA app. From here, you can email, print or download an image of your card. If you’re an Executive Club Member who already has a plastic Blue card, you can continue to use this because it doesn’t expire. If you lose it, access the digital version as above. If you are part of the Executive Club and live in Spain or South Africa, you will still receive a plastic Blue membership card.

What about membership cards for the other tiers?
All tiers other than Blue are still provided with plastic membership cards.

How can I collect Avios on my onboard purchases?
Members simply need to present their Executive Club membership number to the crew on board. This number is displayed on both the plastic membership card and on the digital version.

How do I access the BA lounges if I’ve forgotten my Silver or Gold Executive Club card?
Silver and Gold members can access BA lounges using their digital card along with their boarding card. There is no need to present a plastic card.
