Wish you were here: fashion designers’ postcards

Looking for insider inspiration for your next glamorous break? Seven fashion designers share their favourite summer holiday snaps – of a destination they love – exclusively with The Club

The Seychelles

From Julien Macdonald (@julienmacdonald)
Last year I was lucky enough to go to Fregate Island in the Seychelles. Everything about this place was like paradise, from the turquoise waters around the island that were full of colourful fish and coral, to the most amazing food (all organic and grown on the island) I’ve ever eaten. It truly inspired my next collections.

Spetses, Greece

From Mary Katrantzou (@MaryKatrantzou)
We have a house on Spetses, a little island off the coast of Athens, with a beautiful view of the harbour (pictured). It’s so calm and a great place to relax and spend time with my family and friends.

Brazil

From Holly Fulton (@Studio_Fulton)
The vibrancy and exoticism of Brazil seduced me. The scale and extent of the place was overwhelming; endless roads and cars winding past a mix of flavelas and streets of high-walled mansions. The ladies’ approach to fashion is incredible – they dress to display, and that’s a concept which is very close to my own heart!

Iceland

From Giles Deacon (@guineapiggiles)
I jump at the chance to go to Iceland as often as possible – it’s a really short flight from London but feels as if you’ve have been transported to another planet altogether with its incredible volcanic beauty, the Northern Lights and, of course, the Blue Lagoon (pictured).

Patara, Turkey

From Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery, aka Sibling (@WEARESIBLING)
We headed to Patara on Turkey’s Lycian coast last year just before the onslaught of London Fashion Week and it was the best place to unwind. We stayed in a tiny hotel with a beautiful beach nearby and great, simple food on offer. We made friends with the hotel dog (pictured) who would walk us down to the village and lead us to what became our favourite open-air restaurant. Clever dog.

Delhi

From Inacio Ribeiro and Suzanne Clements (Clements Ribeiro, @ClementsRibeiro)
We were dazzled by Delhi’s colourful assault on the senses, its sheer exoticism and the incomprehensible working chaos. One of our favourite moments was stumbling upon a street celebration for Lord Krishna, with huge neon floats and decorations (pictured). The rituals transfixed us – it was truly unique.

Dailan, China

From Haizhen Wang (@Haizhen_Wang)
My hometown is a beautiful coastal city located in northeast China that’s known for having the best seafood across the country. Just one small bite of tender, grilled abalone (pictured) lightly spiced with chopped chilli pepper drifts me back to my mother’s homemade dishes and countless childhood memories.
