A landmark London venue, premium cucumber G&Ts, and a showcase of British food – that’s what the first After Hours Club event was made of.
The inaugural event was hosted for Executive Club members and readers of The Club at London’s National Gallery in July. Hosted by British Airways in partnership with Oliver Peyton, of restaurant group Peyton and Byrne, the evening celebrated the very best in British produce.
Fifty Executive Club members were joined by artisan British food producers, and enjoyed a five-course menu devised by National Gallery chef Richard Oxley. Among the British ingredients featured in the dinner were scallops and langoustines from the Severn & Wye Smokery – one of BA’s onboard catering suppliers, vegetables from Turnips Distributing, cheese from Buchanan’s Cheesemonger, and petit fours from artisan chocolatier Demarquette.
Oliver Peyton talked about his love of British produce, while many of the food suppliers shared their stories and passion for their produce.
Executive Club member Rene van der Merwe said: “The food was superb, the wine delightful, we met wonderful people and made new friends. We particularly loved the speeches from the suppliers and hearing their passion for the wonderful produce we were served, it was truly inspiring.”
The next After Hours Club will take inspiration from the forthcoming Goya: The Portraits exhibition at The National Gallery, and will feature a feast of Spanish food and wine.
Guests will enjoy a three-course menu using the finest British and Spanish ingredients, celebrating traditional Spanish cuisine with a modern flavour. There will also be a wine tasting hosted by Peyton and Byrne’s wine expert.
The next After Hours Club event will be held at The National Gallery on 16 October 2015. Click here to buy tickets
