Seven things to notice on your next flight

If you haven’t flown for a while, some happy surprises are in store. To clue you in, The Club has all the latest updates to spot on your next British Airways journey

Sanitisation stations at T5

Thanks to a new partnership with cleaning super-brand Dettol, we are keeping things sanitised at Terminal 5 and at 35,000 feet. You can find sanitiser stations throughout the journey, including at all check-in desks, self-service bag drops, lounges, departure gates and elsewhere. More Reward Flight Saver seats than ever before

A biggie for Executive Club Members who love nothing more than redeeming their hard-earned Avios on flights around the world, we have doubled the number of guaranteed, bookable reward seats on any one flight from 28 July 2021. This means that where there would usually be four reward flight seats available on Euro Traveller, it’s now eight, and where there were once two reward flight seats in Club Europe, there are now four. We have also introduced guaranteed availability on World Traveller Plus for the first time. Reward seats are seats that can be booked using Avios, paying a cash amount covering just taxes – to find out more, click here

Power nap ‘pods’ in the First Lounge

This spring saw the introduction of a new British Airways ‘Forty Winks’ nap lounge – a dedicated pre-flight sleeping space featuring the world’s first chair specifically designed for power napping. Currently located in the Terminal 5 First Lounge, with the Concorde Room and JFK Terminal 7 to follow, these power nap ‘pods’ operate on a complimentary, self-service basis, so there’s no need for Members to pre-book.

All your documentation in one place with VeriFly

British Airways is the first airline in the UK to trial VeriFLY – a mobile travel health passport that allows you to certify Covid-19 test certificates and entry requirements for selected destinations before you travel. Designed to offer peace of mind, passengers who download the VeriFLY app to their mobile device can upload their Covid-19 test results and any required travel documentation before arriving at the airport. Use of the app is optional, and you are still able to bring your documents to check in as normal. To find out more, click here

Bag drop has never been easier

A new partnership with AirPortr means you can drop off and check in your bags as soon as you step off the Heathrow Express, the Tube or long-stay car park. The service is free of charge if you have already checked in online and provides another contact-free element to your journey through the airport.

Alternatively, you can have your bags collected and checked in from home up to 24 hours before your flight from £19. You will receive a digital bag tag receipt and can track your baggage online from the moment it leaves your doorstep, right up to the bag being loaded on the aircraft. High Life magazine is available on board

Our on-board magazine first took to the skies 47 years ago and has seen the likes of the Prince of Wales, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Buzz Aldrin grace its covers. Executive Club Members using the lounges at Terminal 5 will be able to find copies of the latest (limited edition) print magazine there, while the title’s newest digital iteration is available to all British Airways travellers both at home and on board via the in-flight Wi-Fi for free.
