Adventurous, cultured, strikingly handsome and great with kids – it’s easy to see why so many fall in love with LUX* Belle Mare Resort & Villas. This dreamy resort, living in the heart of the Indian Ocean, has it all. Don’t believe us? We checked in to see what makes this LUX* resort practically perfect
Whether you’re sipping a Café LUX* cold-press by the pool (whipped up using LUX* Resorts & Hotels’ own Island Blend coffee), or trawling the bountiful buffet at main restaurant, MIXE, there’s a magic moment to be found at every meal. Find fancy food trucks (the one at LUX* Belle Mare is attached to a 1930’s Phantom Hopper Rolls-Royce) serving Cuban classics, a dash of oriental spice at Amari by Vineet (the resort’s Indian restaurant dishing up scintillating fare by Michelin-starred chef Vineet Bhatia) and fresh-from-the-sea tapas at chilled Beach Rouge.
What’s new: The tasting menu at chef Tang Xi Bing’s Duck Laundry, where guests can feast on exquisite Chinese barbecue dishes and freshly-shredded Peking duck from the wood-fired oven.
Finding that perfect family refuge can be tricky, but, when it comes to parental duties, the LUX* Belle Mare is a natural. The resort offers seven categories of suite and three villa types to ensure that all families, no matter how big, can be accommodated. The Family Suite is designed by interiors mastermind Kelly Hoppen for a warm, inviting full-family stay. Then, in the waking hours, there’s a supervised club for kids aged 3 to 11, cake-making sessions every Friday and Studio 17, a teenage hangout run by trained supervisors. Best of all, the beach itself is bursting with family-friendly activities at all times of day.
What’s new: Take a peek at the ‘Kids Stay Free’ offer, valid for two children until 31 October 2020.
When you think of five-star beach resorts, you think of deckchairs and spas, but you might find the LUX* Belle Mare is more than just a pretty face. On the surprisingly action-packed itinerary offered by the resort, there’s swimming with dolphins, beach horse riding at sunrise, water-skiing, wakeboarding, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, kitesurfing, stand-up paddling, beach volleyball, windsurfing and gorgeous boat tours from nine to five.
What’s new: A different kind of adventure, try the LUX* Belle Mare Chocolate Workshop. Hosted by resident pastry chef extraordinaire Pascal Galette, it’s a must for anyone who likes the sweeter things in life.
There’s no amount of stress that a steam room, sauna, plunge pool, heated pool and 12 treatment rooms can’t fix. Luckily, LUX* Belle Mare has all of the above. And whether you’re after weight loss, rejuvenation, anti-ageing help or toning, LUX* Me Spa therapists will have a treatment for you. Then, once you’re suitably soothed, finish things off with a trip to the zen Tea Lounge to unwind with a peppermint tea.
What’s new: The hotel’s Wellness Concierge Concept starts with a Body Balance Analysis, to determine the areas of improvement, before guiding you gently into a bespoke programme designed to tick off all your wellness goals even after you’ve left the resort.
It may be impossibly chic, but that doesn’t mean the LUX* Belle Mare doesn’t know how to get a little messy. The party is always on at K Bar where you’ll find an assortment of dragon-inspired cocktails, meanwhile Flute serves up high-end Champagnes and sparkling wines in a romantic sandbank bunker. For the ultimate poolside tipple though, it’s all about Mari Kontan, a thatch-roof cabana with over 100 rums behind the bar.
What’s new: Did you know LUX* Belle Mare has its own Beer Academy? Sit back and relax with an exclusive range of delicious craft beers from Mauritius’ Flying Dodo brewery.
