Six jet lag busting beauty finds

Want to look (and feel) fresh on your next long-haul trip? The Club discovers the super lotions and potions that frequent flyers swear by

Le Metier de Beauté Daily Refresh Tonic

Margaret Mitchell, head buyer at Space NK
A long flight can cause dry skin, so I always carry this super tonic (£44) whenever I travel. Packed with nourishing ingredients, such as ginseng root and gingko biloba leaf extracts, it stimulates circulation and eliminates dead surface cells, as well as conditioning, smoothing and hydrating – so you always look fresh-faced, no matter how much sleep you have (or haven’t) had.

Omorovicza Intensive Hydra Lifting Cream

It’s not cheap, but massaging a drop of this hydrating cream (£130) into the face, neck and décolleté banishes dryness or tightness without irritation – it also seems to even and brighten my complexion. I use the rose-scented cream morning and night after I land.

De Mamiel Altitude Oil

Lisa Herriott, editor of High Life Shop
This Altitude Oil (£22) is a little bottle of magic. It’s a blend of essential oils, which you inhale every few hours during your flight, as well as before and after arrival. It contains lavender to soothe and eucalyptus to clear your head, helping you feel more alive when you land. I sprinkle a little on my pillow when I get to my destination to help me get back into a regular sleep pattern.

Tata Harper Aromatic Bedtime Treatment

Dr Rebecca Robbins, sleep expert and consultant at The Benjamin Hotel, New York
One strategy for overcoming jet lag is to stick to your normal routine as much as possible. I always suggest bringing items that remind you of home, such as a family photo. Aromatherapy can be a great tool to unwind. I use this bedtime treatment (£48) – a calming blend of essential oils – on my palms and pulse points before I go to bed to help me relax.

Coconut oil

First Officer Chloe Harrison, Airbus A320 fleet, Gatwick
Coconut oil is my wonder product when travelling. A small pot mixed with brown sugar and honey makes a great exfoliating lip salve. You can also rub it on your hands as a light moisturiser or use it as mouthwash. And when you get to your destination, you can use it as a hair-conditioning treatment.

YSL Touch Éclat

The Club editorial team
If you have trouble sleeping on a plane or adjusting your body clock to new surroundings, cheat your way to skin that looks as if it’s had a full eight hours with YSL Touche Éclat (£25). Dab it under your eyes to reduce the appearance of dark circles, as well as a little on the inner eye corners to brighten tired eyes.
