High-speed Wi-Fi rollout begins; World Traveller catering improvements; more summer flights, plus a new dedicated team of Mandarin speakers at Heathrow

Connected cabins
High-speed Wi-Fi is now being rolled out across the BA fleet, with a new connectivity service .air allowing passengers to browse and stream the internet on their own devices while on board. The planned installation will take place during 2018 and 2019, bringing connectivity to more than 90 per cent of the fleet by 2019. Here comes the sun
If you’re after a Vitamin D top up, news that BA has introduced more flights to continental Europe this summer will be welcome. From May, there will be extra weekend flights from Manchester to Malaga, Ibiza and Palma. There will also be an additional weekend flight from Birmingham to Palma and an extra weekend flight from Bristol to Malaga. For skiers, new winter-only services are running from Manchester to Salzburg and Chambery. For more information, visit ba.com

Class catering
Upgrades to World Traveller catering are here, including larger portions and quality options that home in on British-themed, locally sourced ingredients and familiar brands. All long-haul customers can enjoy complimentary drinks from a fully stocked bar service, plus snacks and a delightful four-course meal. On flights over ten hours, movie snacks will be available and a second meal before landing, meaning you’ll step off at your destination fuelled and ready to roam. App-tastic
You may have noticed a change in the way your digital Executive Club card appears in the British Airways app. To improve customer experience and respond to ever-evolving trends, the BA app will soon let you save your card to the iOS/Android wallet. The barcode (which you can find by tapping on the Executive Club card image) can still be used to make Buy on Board purchases. For more information, visit ba.com

BA goes bilingual
British Airways has introduced a Mandarin-speaking customer service team at Terminal 5. The team, who are fluent in both English and Mandarin, are on hand to help customers at check-in and departure gates, as well as working to coincide with the departure or arrival of customers on BA’s ten weekly flights to Shanghai and seven weekly flights to Beijing.

Luggage limits
A Smart Bag is an item which enables customers to charge their personal electronic devices on the go. To be accepted on to a British Airways flight, the lithium batteries or power banks within them will need to be removable or they will not be accepted on to the aircraft. If the bag is going to travel in the hold, the battery will need to be removed and carried in the cabin.
