Legends of Apollo make the mission to London with British Airways
British Airways has partnered with British astronaut Tim Peake (pictured above) and former space pioneers to bring Legends of Apollo to London in May 2020. To inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts, the live show will feature legendary figures who played pivotal roles in NASA’s human spaceflight programme. British Airways’ theatre partnership hits the stage
The Jamie Lloyd Company, supported by British Airways, has debuted its first show of the season, Cyrano de Bergerac, starring stage and screen favourite, James McAvoy. Running at The Playhouse Theatre until 19 February 2020, the show has been hailed as ‘the most breathtakingly exciting show in London right now’ by the Evening Standard. Lloyd’s next show in the Playhouse season, The Seagull (11 March to 30 May 2020) will be actress Emilia Clarke’s West End debut. Provenance-focused menus arrive on all British Airways flights
British Airways has announced a multi-million pound investment in its catering on flights from London Gatwick. Catering will focus on provenance, working closely with suppliers in the south of England to source the best quality ingredients for new menus (pictured below). Customers can enjoy new dishes such as Hampshire Chalk Stream trout gremolata with roasted new potatoes and Onley Oak ribeye steak in all long-haul cabins, as well as in First and Club Europe on short-haul. Valuable 500 and British Airways team up for a cause
For International Day of Persons with Disabilities, British Airways pledged its commitment to customers requiring additional assistance by joining The Valuable 500, a global movement that makes accessibility a business priority. The airline has invested in a number of initiatives to ensure journeys are as simple and easy as possible, including the launch of training programme Beyond Accessibility for almost 30,000 customer-facing staff, as well as a dedicated team of accessibility experts, many of whom are equipped with personal experience as well as specialist training. Soak up the summer in the Turkish port city of Bodrum
New European routes announced
2020 will see British Airways flying to a whole host of new European routes, including the Kosovan capital of Pristina and Montenegro capital, Podgorica (4 July-29 August 2020); a new route to Italian hill-town Perugia (2 July-31 August); the Turkish coastal towns of Dalaman and Bodrum (23 May-24 October) and Antalya from Gatwick (30 April to 26 October); the Greek island of Rhodes (4 July-29 August); the Basque country jewel, San Sebastian (from July to September) as well as a new two-per-week service from Gatwick to Corfu from 1 May until 23 October. British Airways awarded Airline of the Year
In its centenary year, British Airways was named Airline of the Year at the CAPA (Centre for Aviation) annual Global Aviation Awards for Excellence. One of the world’s most trusted sources of market intelligence for the aviation and travel industry, CAPA judges attributed the headline title to a raft of achievements.
