Busy bodies

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar promises kids the kind of packed-out holiday that stays with them forever. For those aged between three and 14 there’s nothing more exciting than whiling away hours in the Explorer’s Kids Club – an interactive learning hub with an action-packed weekly schedule. For the wannabee sailors, Baha Mar has an extensive complimentary rental programme offering stand-up paddleboards, floats, snorkels, plus single and double kayaks.

Artist at work

At Baha Mar, art lovers will find plenty to dip their paintbrush into. Opening daily at 10am, The Current Gallery & Art Center is a celebration of Bahamian artistic expression; a collection of contemporary art and photography exhibitions that has been built in collaboration with the local community. If you want to do more than just browse, why not take part in one of the artist programmes? There are workshops available for abstract art, figure drawing, printmaking and more, all taught by seasoned pros.

A hole in one

Resort golf courses can be hit-or-miss. That’s why Baha Mar enrolled golf legend Jack Nicklaus himself to design their signature course, the Royal Blue. Avid putters can expect a beautiful 18-hole green with ‘moonscapes’, rolling fairways and beautiful views of the ocean almost everywhere you walk. Plus, everything’s available under the resort’s unique Better Than Your Own rental experience, including their state-of-the-art golf carts. It’s open from 7am to 6pm so you can get a few rounds in before breakfast or dinner.

Sharpen your swing

Tennis is no after-thought at Baha Mar. There are now nine brand-new tennis courts at the resort, six of which are hard court, two clay and one grass. The Bahamian climate is perfect for practising the sport, whether you’re waking up early to catch the first glints of sunshine at the 8am open or playing with an ocean breeze at your back until the 7pm close. And you know you’re in well-trained hands: the tennis programme itself is directed by Minos Marinakis, a certified USPTA ‘Elite’ Tennis Professional with 18 years of experience. Private instruction is offered daily for those who want to acquaint themselves better with the court, while the kids clinic offers a series of fun ways to learn and play.
