Beauty and the beach: finding serenity at Sani Resort

Lapped by the blue of the Aegean on Greece’s beautiful Kassandra peninsula, Sani Resort combines five-star luxury with a truly extraordinary setting. Pristine beaches give way to pine forests, while facilities run from sleek, first-class spas to thrilling outdoor pursuits. Travel editor, Elizabeth Winding, heads to the beachfront to find out more

Each of the resort’s five hotels has a flawless five-star rating, from family-friendly Sani Beach to the intimate Sani Asterias. For chic beachfront living with a grown-up vibe, Sani Dunes is the one, while Porto Sani’s luxurious suites overlook the marina. Last but not least, you’ll find Sani Club hidden amid the olive groves with its own private beach. Rooms, meanwhile, run from spacious doubles to opulent suites and bungalows, opening onto garden terraces or azure private pools. The Sani Suite Collection offers myriad extras, from seamless express check-in to a chauffeur-driven tour – and the chance to pre-book dinners and spa sessions via the e-concierge app.

Life’s a beach

Kick off your flip flops and prepare to relax on some of Greece’s loveliest beaches. The flagship, Bousoulas, is a four-mile stretch of pine-fringed sands and sun-warmed shallows, while Sani Club beach’s crystal-clear, turquoise waters are a snorkeller’s paradise. Try scuba-diving, learn to sail, or take time to unwind, lulled by the balmy breeze and lapping of the waves. The best news? That applies to parents, too, thanks to the Babewatch team, who’ll happily look after little ones for up to half an hour (plenty of time to go for a swim, or finally finish that chapter…).

03 Your Holiday

Your holiday, your way

Away from the beach, do as much – or as little – as you like. Relax by the pool, book a pampering massage, or stroll the circular marina. A favourite with the yachting set, it’s dotted with boutiques, bars and cafés; there’s no better place to sip your morning coffee, watching the boats come and go. At the heart of a 1,000-acre eco-reserve, Sani’s setting is equally spectacular, with forest trails to hike, KTM bikes to hire and tours of the bird-filled wetlands. Finally, the new Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre is not to be missed – polish your backhand or sharpen up your serve with a bespoke-tailored programme.

A taste for luxury

Sani’s dining options cater to every craving, with 24 restaurants and a unique Dine Around scheme, with special menus and à la carte discounts for half and full-board guests. Options run from sashimi to steaks, caviar to grilled octopus – which taste even better on a sun-dappled terrace overlooking the Aegean. Come the evening, head to Fresco for Italianate fine dining, or sample Water Restaurant’s tasting menus, overseen by three-Michelin-star chef, Mauro Colagreco. For the little ones, a newly launched kids menu curated by Annabel Karmel (a global expert on infant nutrition) ensures they'll stay fuelled up on the right foods throughout the day.

Have kids, will travel

Stress-free family holidays are a breeze at Sani, with an Ofsted-approved crèche for under-fours and an action-packed kid’s club. Activities run from treasure hunts and T-shirt painting to canoe tours and stargazing for teens – who also get their own cool clubhouse to hang out in. Sani’s expert-led academies, meanwhile, teach kids to sail, dance, or hone their skills on the pitch, courtesy of the Chelsea FC Foundation-affiliated Football Academy. Family time together is just as memorable, whether you’re eating ice-creams in the marina, teaching the kids how to snorkel, or swinging through the treetop adventure park (if the kids can do it, so can you).
