For winter coats and beautiful shoes, I go to Dover Street Market. Its understated façade means you’re likely to pass it by, but don’t. This is where wealthy, art-loving types come to shop and drink coffee. Pick up designs by Céline, Thom Browne and Christopher Kane.

If you live in jeans, head to Donna Ida, a mecca for denim lovers. I take all my female friends, and tell them that if you can’t find your perfect pair here, they probably don’t exist. Wolf and Badger (above) is my first port of call for stand-out pieces of jewellery, cufflinks or watches. It supports emerging talent and stocks products from more than 400 independent designers.

If your ‘look’ is part nonchalant Californian, part chic Parisian, visit Margaux Lonnberg at her Paris showroom. Although she mainly sells online, it’s good to see her designs in person – ladies’ pinstripe suits, cut-out T-shirts and structured blazers just ask to be tried on.

For stylish sunglasses, check out Jimmy Fairly (above). The vintage range is particularly cool – especially mirrored glasses. Plus, for each pair bought, they donate a pair to a person in need. Need a hat? Visit Destree for high-end, French-made millinery. You’ll always find something original, and the hats don’t lose their shape.

Stella Dallas
is my favourite vintage store in Williamsburg. Head to the back for special vintage dresses – I promise you’ll walk out with something.

Duo
in the East Village always lures me in with its new and vintage clothes – especially killer denim. The store itself looks pretty, too – perfectly colour-coded into pale blues, beiges and whites.

I spend a lot of time at my best friend’s clothing boutique, Anthom (above). It has two locations (Lower East Side and Chelsea) and is known for the minimalist, conceptual store – white, with copper accents. Go for the designer dresses and accessories.

If you love vintage designer labels, visit Il Cameo. It stocks everything from 1960s Chanel tweed jackets to 1980s super-pop Moschino. If you want to take home a piece of Milanese fashion history, look for label Fiorucci.

Wait and See (above) is a boho-chic boutique in the heart of Milan, between the Duomo and the Ticinese district. I love its knitwear, and often go to search out new designers.

Frip
isn’t just a shop – it’s a lifestyle. In addition to clothes by niche northern European designers (such as Marques Almeida and Acne), you’ll find fanzines and the coolest fashion industry magazines.

For one-of-a-kind silver, tribal-design jewellery, head to Amrapali in Khan Market. I love wearing one of its statement pieces with either western outfits or traditional Indianwear.

Go to Nappa Dori (above) in Hauz Khas Village for made-in-India, hand-crafted leather goods. I own one of its art deco-inspired leather wallets and now have my eyes on a hand-crafted bucket bag.

For a quirky mix of accessories and home decor products, try Second Floor Studio by Punit Jasuja. The shop in Shahpur Jat has the cosiest cashmere jumpers I’ve ever worn.
