British Airways gets its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner prepared for take off to Shanghai; plus introducing super surround-sound entertainment and a new edition of First magazine
Shanghai nights
The new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will begin flying between Heathrow and Shanghai this summer. BA has also announced three new overnight flights a week from Shanghai, scheduled to arrive in London at a convenient time for business travellers. The 787-9 is currently being rolled out across a number of global routes, with flights to Newark, Narita, Jeddah, Houston, Mumbai, Boston and Dubai planned for 2016.
New sounds
The in-flight movie experience on BA flights has been upgraded to include 3D surround-sound technology on long-haul flights. Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. are among the first films to feature the improved audio, alongside a host of other Hollywood blockbusters. Check out the British Airways YouTube channel to experience the difference between the old sound technology and the new.
Homeward bound
The latest publication of First magazine, ‘The Home Edition’, is now available in all BA First cabins and from the Apple app store. In this issue, author Thomas Harding tells the story of his family’s lakeside house in Berlin; astronaut Scott Kelly presents his breathtaking pictures of Earth from space, and Karl Watson shares his experience of life in Barbados.
