Five reasons to fall in love with Crete

Steeped in history and legends thousands of years old, Crete catches the imagination with its rugged coastline and landscapes. Get swept up in the amazing surroundings and the seductive cuisine of Greece’s biggest island at Daios Cove Luxury Resort and Villas

The spellbinding views

Set on a striking hillside on the northeast of the island overlooking the inky blue Aegean Sea, there are superb views from almost every corner of the resort. Plus, there’s a private sandy beach, so you can enjoy those dreamy panoramas from the comfort of your secluded sun lounger.
Club tip: Make the most of the beachside location and have a go a water-skiing or scuba diving with the resort’s onsite watersports centre. Or hire a private boat and set sail for the hauntingly beautiful Spinalonga, a Unesco-protected island that is home to an ancient fortress dating back to 3,000BC.

With 39 villas and 251 luxury rooms and suites, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking an accommodation option to suit you. Most of the creamy white suites – which can sleep up to six people – come complete with private heated pools that appear to dissolve into the sea and sky, while the one-, two- and three-bedroom villas are ideal for families and groups.
Club tip: Book a villa for access to the Residents’ Club (see below for more information) and your own private pool

The seductive flavours

Crete dances to its own culinary beat, with a distinct flavour compared to its other Greek island sisters. Whether it’s feasting on local dishes al fresco in the taverna or dining on something more refined in the Ocean restaurant, there’s something to suit all palates. Grab a cocktail at the beach bar – the thirst-quenching honey mango margarita has even won awards.
Club tip: When evening falls, head to the Crystal Box bar to relax on white leather sofas and watch the sunset with a glass of crisp Cretan white wine.

It’s true that the Greeks know how to relax in style, and Daios Cove’s spa is one of the best in the country. Drawing on relaxation techniques from all over the world – from a Finnish sauna to a Thai massage studio – the state-of-the-art facility also includes a Technogym and cardio fitness equipment.
Club tip: Don’t miss treatments from French skincare specialist Anne Semonin – the leading body care brand uses essential oils and natural products.
