British Airways launches new summer routes from Manchester, Nicole Scherzinger and YolanDa Brown bring jazz to the skies on a special Mardi Gras flight to New Orleans, and customers can now use Avios to pay for M&S food onboard flights using the BA app
New summer routes from Manchester
British Airways will launch seven new routes from Manchester airport this summer, providing more than 35,000 extra seats from the North West. From May 2017, a summer-only schedule of direct flights will commence once-a-week services to Alicante, Malaga, Palma, Mykonos, Nice and London City Airport, plus a three-times-a-week service to Ibiza. Club Europe and eligible Executive Club Members will also have access to the rooftop British Airways Terraces Lounge at the airport.
All that jazz
Singer Nicole Scherzinger and saxophonist YolanDa Brown brought a whole new meaning to in-flight entertainment when they helped celebrate the launch of British Airways’ upcoming route to New Orleans. The soulful musicians entertained 150 passengers – who all bid for their tickets on eBay – on a special Mardi Gras party charter flight, which also showcased three undiscovered jazz musicians. All proceeds from the flight went to BA’s charity, Flying Start. From 27 March 2017, British Airways will launch the only direct flight to the Big Easy from London Heathrow.

Mile-high grub
Back in January, British Airways launched a partnership with Marks & Spencer to serve a range of food and snacks onboard Euro Traveller and UK domestic services. Now customers can pay for in-flight meals using Avios. Executive Club Members can show their cards to pay with Avios, while non-members can pay using their credit cards via the BA app. Make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version of the app prior to travel in order to pay with Avios.
