The frequent flier guide to healthier skin

We all know flying isn’t exactly great for the skin, so it’s important to pay some attention to your skincare regime before we head back into the skies. Nutritive Cleanser

This cleanser helps improve the look of fine lines and enlarged pores thanks to a little ingredient called alpha lipoic acid, an antioxidant found naturally in the human body. ALA is the most powerful antioxidant available because of its ability to work both inside and outside the cell to fight off free radicals (atoms that cause illness and aging). Aside from some immediate anti-aging benefits, this cleanser also efficiently removes excess oil, dirt and impurities without stripping skin of its essential moisture (extra important when flying). On top of all that, it smells amazing – though the scent does not linger more than just a few moments post-cleansing.

Face Finishing & Firming Moisturiser

A cult favourite, for sure! This moisturiser is loaded with antioxidants to provide skin with immense anti-aging benefits. The moisturiser will target fine lines, enlarged pores and the beginning signs of loss of firmness. Fellow make-up artists use this moisturiser as a staple in their kits, as it truly works for all skin types, and imparts an immediate glow that translates to a perfect canvas for make-up application. A little bit goes a long way, so don’t overdo it! The beautiful rose scent allows for a relaxing experience during application, sure to keep you cool, calm and collected on your travels.

Face Firming Serum

Launched around 20 years ago, this particular serum happens to be one of the very first serums Perricone MD created and has remained a best-seller for great reason. It has the highest concentration of alpha lipoic acid and, because of the high concentration of this powerhouse antioxidant, is an amazing serum for protection against environmental aggressors and those pesky free radicals. ALA also visibly improves the look of texture – think fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores and even some scarring. The serum is great for anyone with textural concerns, but also for those starting to lose some firmness.

Hyaluronic Intensive Moisturiser

I have a huge soft spot for this moisturiser because I love hyaluronic acid. The formulation may be oil-free, but it features three different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid that each work in a different way with the skin to promote visible plumpness, radiance, clarity and hydration. When flying, our skin is stripped dry of essential moisture, which can make us look tired, dull and, dare I say it, older. It’s important to wear a moisturiser that uses humectants (such as hyaluronic acid) to lock in moisture and prevent it from escaping from the skin. The more hydrated the skin, the more youthful the appearance.

Growth Factor Lifting & Firming Serum

Another expert serum, this one is for those with more progressed signs of loss of firmness and/or textural concerns. It harnesses Perricone MD’s patented Polyamine Growth Factor (growth factors, which deplete over time, are responsible for allowing the skin to heal itself), which help encourage skin to behave as if it were younger by visibly lifting, plumping and firming loose, sagging skin. It also incorporates ‘encapsulated retinol’ (slowly releasing active ingredients into the skin over time) as well as something called eggshell membrane, which naturally contains hyaluronic acid to help hydrate and visibly plump depleted skin. A friendly reminder when it comes to skin anatomy and retinol: give it time. Retinol does not work overnight, but rather takes four to six weeks to effectively, visibly transform the skin.

Face Finishing & Firming Tinted Moisturiser SPF30

I call this the sister product to the previous Face Finishing & Firming Moisturiser. Oil-free, this tinted moisturiser’s sodium hyaluronate works to provide skin with essential moisture without the added oil. It’s formulated with mineral-based SPF30 to protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays, and ensures your skin remains protected without clogging pores. It’s a great ‘pick-me-up’ upon your flight landing as it releases a ‘hint of tint’ or warmth upon application, making you look more polished, radiant and rested.
