Where the party’s at

British electronic music duo Disclosure, aka brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence – both Gold Executive Club Members – reveal the places where they played their most memorable gigs, from Croatia to Chicago

Croatia

All the festivals in Croatia are really cool, because a lot of them are on the beach. Hideout’s probably the biggest one, but we played at the more up-and-coming Unknown in Rovinj last year. It feels the way Hideout used to before it got big: small, not so well known and you’re partying with the locals rather than a bunch of English people. We did a back-to-back, all-night set with DJ Jackmaster that finished at 10:30am, and we had a flight at midday, so we went straight from the stage, to the plane and onto another gig. It was pretty rock ’n’ roll.

New York

There’s a really awesome club in Brooklyn called Output. It’s pretty small and not at all fancy – so don’t expect table service or bottles of Grey Goose with sparklers like other New York clubs offer. This place is all about the music, DJs and people dancing – a proper rave. It’s an absolutely chaotic venue to get around because it’s so packed, but it’s a great place to play. Everyone there just has a good time.

Berlin

Everyone who visits Berlin should go to techno club Berghain – if you can get in, that is. It’s one of world’s most exclusive clubs, and it’s really hard to get through the door because the bouncers turn people away at random. It opens every weekend from Thursday evening and the party goes on until Monday morning, with headliners usually coming on at about 7am. You could stay in there for three days if you’re absolutely crazy – we’ve done about 15-16 hours before and that was enough. I don’t know how the people of Berlin do any work on a Monday.

Ibiza

Every time we go to Ibiza, we have a great time, no matter where we’re performing. Space is our favourite venue on the island – we have fond memories of it and just feel like we’re at home there. It’s a massive club, but we know our way around. There’s always a great line-up, especially on Sundays. We’re back there this summer, curating four line-ups for a night called Wild Life.

Chicago

When you make house music like we do, it’s really incredible to DJ in Chicago (the birthplace of that music genre). We played a very memorable gig at theMID. As a club, it’s good. It’s not incredible, but the vibe and the crowd are just great. To take everything we’ve learnt from the amazing acts that have come out of this city, and then bring it back to the kids today and see their reaction, is pretty special.

Look out for Disclosure’s exclusive music mix on British Airways’ audio channels on board in July.

British Airways will start flying to Ibiza from Edinburgh three times a week on 23 May. It currently operates services from London Gatwick, Heathrow and City airports.
