Biometric boarding makes life easy for passengers at Orlando International airport; World Traveller and World Traveller Plus enjoy a host of new upgrades, and BA's new coffee partner make their on-board debut
Biometric boarding
BA is trialling a set of biometric boarding gates at Orlando International airport, becoming the first airline to use the technology for boarding international flights. Following successful trials at Los Angeles airport, passengers flying on the daily flight from Orlando to Gatwick will be able to use the new gates, which can board up to 240 passengers in ten minutes. Cabin refresh
USB sockets at every seat, six-way adjustable headrests and 50 per cent larger entertainment screens with swipe control are just three of the new upgrades coming to World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins for customers flying from Gatwick. The makeover sees a fully refreshed Boeing 777 fleet that’ll bring sleek new seats and other additional comforts to all of BA’s 22 long-haul routes from Gatwick by summer 2019. Lounge around the clock
Gold cardholders and customers flying First from London Gatwick will be pleased to hear new opening hours have been announced for the airport’s First Lounge. Having traditionally opened nearly two hours later than its Club Lounge counterpart, both lounges will now open at 5:15am, allowing customers to enjoy the benefits for longer.
