George -G

Gold Member, George Galica, tells us where he'd eat his last meal, how he'd spend his perfect day and his plans for future adventures

Where do you live?
Munich, but I still use British Airways as my primary airline. It has a great network and many of the schedules, for example to San Francisco, are tailored around the business day, so even if the flight is longer than flying direct, it's more convenient. Plus it can be up to 60 per cent cheaper to travel via London.

Do you travel for business or leisure?
Primarily for business, but I try and get away on holiday when I can.

What sort of leisure traveller are you?
I go for the culture. I went to Costa Rica in January and it was definitely for the adventure rather than the beach.

Where have you been in the past year?
For business I went all over Europe, down to South Africa and West Africa, the Far East and North America. On holiday I went to the Caribbean (Nevis and Grenada), to Las Vegas and New York, Costa Rica and Italy - Tuscany, Venice and to northern Italy for skiing in the Italian Alps. I'm in Sri Lanka as we speak.

Where's next?
I'd like to explore the Middle East, particularly Doha in Qatar.

Where do you always go back to?
Las Vegas. It's completely different to anywhere else in the world.

Describe your Perfect Day.
I'd be somewhere in the Caribbean with good diving. I'd eat freshly caught fish, there'd be plenty of sunshine and I'd feel a world away from all city life.

Where would you eat your last meal?
A Japanese restaurant in London called Zuma. The food is fresh, the service is great and it's a fun place to be.

What would you recommend people do in your home city?
Explore the Bavarian countryside, which is not far from Munich. It is quite unlike anywhere else I've been in the world.

Where's the one place in the world you'd like to be kept a secret?
A small village called Hin Wong Bay in the north-eastern part of Koh Tao in Thailand. It's quiet, there's very little electricity and you can walk from the restaurant straight into the ocean, where you'll find the water teeming with multi-coloured fish.

What's your most memorable holiday?
When I went to Australia for a friend's 30th birthday. We ate dinner in the Sydney Opera House, went wine tasting in the Hunter Valley and then spent time in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.

What's the best way to earn Avios?
Nothing earns you Avios like flying.
