Port of paradise: Regent Porto Montenegro

The Med’s most exclusive playground is getting even more glamorous with this luxury new waterfront property

Nestled in a yachting enclave that is fast becoming the playground for the rich and famous, the newly opened Regent Port Montenegro is the latest addition to the Regent Hotels & Resorts Collection. The luxury hotel was unveiled on 1 August, and occupies the space that was once the headquarters of the Austro-Hungarian Imperial Navy. It’s also on one of the most picturesque shorelines of the Adriatic and overlooks Europe’s southernmost fjord, so the hotel isn’t short of spectacular views.

The sunny yellow façade of the five-storey waterfront property – which was designed by leading hotel architects ReardonSmith – is a nod to the Venetian influence of the area’s architecture, while the modern interiors were masterminded by internationally acclaimed designer Tino Zervudachi of Mlinaric, Henry and Zervudachi. Each of the 51 rooms and 35 suites has a strong nautical theme in mind (think timber flooring and navy stripes), paying tribute to the hotel’s iconic location in the heart of Montenegro’s most prestigious marinas. What’s more, most room have a spacious balcony, allowing guests to take in the vistas of Boka Bay.

When it comes to wining and dining, there are plenty of options at the Regent Porto Montenegro: try the Dining Room for fresh, seasonal and local dishes such as lobster au gratin with zucchini mille feuille, and Wagyu beef carpaccio with olive pudding and black truffle; the Library Bar is the perfect pre- and post-dinner drink stop in all seasons (there’s an outdoor terrace for summer and a cosy fireplace inside for winter) as well as afternoon tea, while those with a sweet tooth should head for the Gourmet Corner for pastries, truffles and other treats.

Guest can also unwind in the signature Regent Spa, which has a Jacuzzi, sauna, hammam and fresh juice bar, or take a refreshing dip in the hotel’s 20m pool, which has uninterrupted views of the bay. As an added bonus, guests can take a private boat to a secluded beach or gain priority access to a nearby luxury Lido, complete with luxurious beds and cabanas.

The Regent Porto Montenegro is located in the town of Tivat and can be reached through the local international airport, or Dubrovnik and Podgorica. For more information, visit regenthotels.com.
