Your perfect TV travel companion

Whether you’re off on a wild adventure or simply soaking up the rays on the beach, you can keep up with your favourite TV shows with Sky Q – the next generation box. Here's why every discerning traveller should have one – plus a chance to win a Sky Q 2TB box with Sky’s best TV bundle for a whole year plus a 43” UHD TV

Before you go
Tickets? Check. Passport? Check. Sky Q box? Check. If you’re off on holiday and anxious about missing your favourite television shows, fear not, the Sky Q 2TB box can record and store over 1,000 hours (yes, really) of TV, so you won’t miss a thing. Rather cleverly, Sky Q can also record up to six programmes at once while you’re watching a seventh live, which is great for those busy households where everyone’s got their own favourite.

Need to find and record your shows before heading off on your travels? Voice Control is another genius feature that allows you to find the shows and movies you want to watch, faster and easier than ever before. Simply press and hold the microphone button on the side of the Sky Q Touch remote and tell your Sky Q box what you’re looking for. You can ask for things like, “Action films rated five stars” or quote famous lines from your favourite titles such as, “You can’t handle the truth” and hey presto.

While you’re away
If you’ve got time to kill at the airport and fancy watching that enticing drama you’ve been meaning to see for ages, well, with Sky Q Multiscreen and the Sky Q app, you can download recordings included in your Sky Q TV channel pack and most free-to-air channels to a tablet or mobile at home before you go away and watch them wherever you want. There’s no need for 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi either, so you can devote yourself to that must-see Sky Atlantic show at the airport, in your hotel or even when lounging by the pool, piña colada in hand.

On your return
Can’t remember where you put the remote before you went away? Simply press the Q button on the front of your Sky Q box and your remote will start beeping, allowing you to locate it easily. So, no need to turn your living room upside down.

And when you’re back on your comfy sofa you can relax and enjoy the widest range of entertainment in Ultra HD, including Sky Original Productions, nature documentaries, sports and the biggest blockbuster movies. With your Sky Q 2TB box, pictures are four times the definition of HD, giving smoother colours and enhanced picture quality.

Looking for inspiration for that next trip abroad? Sky’s drama will give you itchy feet - its Sky Original Productions are filmed in the most jaw-dropping locations around the world, with some of the biggest stars and most dramatic edge-of-your-seat moments thrown in for good measure.

From Tin Star, starring Tim Roth, a tale of deception, betrayal, murder and revenge, filmed in breathtakingly beautiful Calgary, and German crime drama Babylon Berlin, set in the decadent yet dark underworld of 1920s Berlin, to the glamorous coastline of the south of France in intoxicating thriller Riviera starring Julia Stiles and the dramatic scenery of Iceland in the chilling series Fortitude, with Michael Gambon, Stanley Tucci and Sofie Gråbøl you’ll get the travel bug in no time.

While detective series The Tunnel – in which the action takes place in the Channel Tunnel – sees British and French authories working together to solve a suspicious potential murder, and Delicious with Dawn French, a British drama about family, food and infidelity set in the Cornish countryside, are both delightful odes to home shores. There’s so much choice, you won’t want to miss anything. Thank goodness for that Sky Q 2TB box
