This year, guests can get in on the action and learn all about the art of truffle hunting at the local Savini Tartufi farm, before embarking on a truffle gathering expedition of their own. Under the guidance of local hunter Giulio Benuzzi, they’ll discover the secret truffle-rich hotspots and reap the rewards at their next meal.

Occupying the most prestigious address in Edinburgh, The Balmoral is a favourite pit stop for musical royalty, from the likes of Sir Paul McCartney to The Rolling Stones. Luckily, visitors need only check in to the newly upgraded Scone & Crombie suite to be treated like a rock star. A new cashmere butler service means guests can enjoy the super-soft delights of locally produced knitwear from the comfort of the room, complete with their very own ‘paintbox’ – a display of shades from the current season – delivered to their door. For die-hard cashmere enthusiasts, The Balmoral offers a one-to-one shopping experience at the renowned Hawico store, where the cashmere butler will hand-pick the garments that suit each client best.

Travel through time at Le Jardin de Russie

A short walk from Rome’s iconic Piazza del Popolo, Hotel de Russie owes its name to the countless Russian romantic painters and members of the Imperial court who frequented it throughout the 19th century. Experience a taste of days gone by in the immaculately preserved secret garden as it opens up for the season. An ode to esteemed architect Giuseppe Valadier, Le Jardin de Russie’s restoration was inspired by the designer’s notebooks and original pencil sketches, which reveal his plans for a garden bursting with flowing streams, fountains and waterfalls – an enchanting soundtrack to an afternoon tea or evening Aperol spritz.
