Now, a link-up with Avios can help you hitch up your balance as you travel seamlessly between home and the airport, and can even score you some generous bonus Avios in the process. Readying yourself for baggage-laden trips ahead? Here’s why Uber will boost your travel luck in more ways than one…

You can collect up to 1,000 bonus Avios
Pre-booking your airport ride with Uber can be a godsend – especially if your flight has a not-so-desirable departure time. From 30 minutes to 90 days before your need-to-travel date, you can go into the app, select the time you want to be picked up, and lock in a driver for when you’ll need them. Uber’s prebooking feature is available across a range of UK locations: Greater London, Manchester, the Southwest (including Bristol and Bath), Birmingham, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool and Nottingham. And this summer, users who pre-book two separate trips with Uber will be rewarded with up to 1,000 Avios (500 per trip). Simply pre-book and complete both trips before 1 September 2024.*

Take the stress out of early morning flights
The last thing you need along with an early departure time or sluggish queues at security is a stressful transfer. With Uber, Economy drivers typically arrive ten minutes before the reserved pick-up time¹ (15 minutes beforehand for Premium rides), meaning there are no anxious waits for a driver who may or may not show up. Plus, your driver will wait ten minutes after your specified time, should you be struggling to find your passport. Finally, your price is locked in, whether that’s the night before you need it or up to 90 days before, so no surprise price hikes on the day.²

Travel in style with a more premium car
For even more peace of mind, those travelling within London, Manchester, the Southwest and Birmingham might consider booking a Premium Uber to the airport. Whether your concern is group size – UberXL vehicles have a minimum of six seats and extra baggage room in the back – or comfort and style (enter: Uber Exec), you can tailor your selection to your tastes. With Uber Exec or Lux (noting that the Lux service is available in London only), you can expect a welcome in a luxury or recent model car, plus a driver who has a minimum 4.9 rating and has completed more than 1,000 rides. You can even pre-request the amount of conversation you’d like and the desired temperature.

You can collect Avios every time you ride
However you choose to while away your chauffeured trip to the airport, you can do so knowing you’re collecting 1 Avios on every £1 spent on completed Uber rides taken in the UK.³ To do so, you’ll need to link your Executive Club and Uber accounts: simply download the latest Uber app on the App Store or Google Play store, if you haven’t already, and tap ‘Settings’, scroll to the bottom of the page, select ‘British Airways Executive Club’, hit ‘Link Account’ on the next screen and follow the instructions on the account-linking page. And, hey presto, you’re collecting Avios on the go – and not just to the airport, but even home from a house party, a seamless ride to work or from a station to a festival.
