Our New Year resolutions for 2025

Just like you, our own British Airways colleagues having been conjuring up their 2025 New Year resolutions and trying to stick to them – but what are they, exactly? We head to Waterside – our headquarters near Heathrow Terminal 5 – to find out

Do you struggle to keep your resolutions? Check out our guide to making them stick, with top tips from experts in the fields of finance, fitness and more.

This year I want to make progress on our house renovation and eventually start work on the garden in time for summer. I’d also love to take our seven-month-old, Darcy, on her first big adventure. I’m thinking somewhere with clear water and sandy beaches, like Antigua (pictured). After meeting my partner on a plane, I would like to give her a taste of the lifestyle we had when we met. I can’t wait to get back into travelling again – this time as a family – when I return to work later this year from maternity leave.

Rather than setting resolutions, I like to choose a word at the beginning of each year that I intend to live out in the months to come. My word for 2025 is kaizen – a Japanese word that I’ve recently fallen in love with, which means to become 1% better each day. I like this mindset as it means I can make small, positive changes daily without feeling overwhelmed: choosing to walk instead of driving, choosing a healthy meal at home rather than a takeaway, choosing to sleep early over scrolling on social media until late in the night... And while I’m fortunate to travel for work, there are still so many places I’d love to visit. I’m hoping to tick Mexico (pictured) off the list this year. Maybe see you there!

I am deeply passionate about other people’s wellbeing and development but, as is often the case, I can sometimes neglect my own. So, in 2025, I am going to be adopting the ‘5-hour rule’, where you focus on spending one hour of each workday during the week dedicated to learning something new. My travel resolution, meanwhile, continues to be something I do for my own wellbeing. Once a year, I spend a week at an amazing hotel in St Lucia (pictured) that focuses on wellbeing – I can highly recommend it!

My resolution for 2025 is to get back out on the dance floor! I’m a competitive Latin and ballroom dancer, but my partner has had some ill health of late, and I’ve had a year and a half out of the game. Alongside this, I’d love to explore more of Europe by really capitalising on quick trips and more short-haul flying. I’ve been to so many long-haul destinations in my career, but much of Europe is still a mystery to me. Top of the hit list is Seville: beautiful architecture, great weather and the perfect place to sample fine wines and sherry from the region.

It was another amazing year of flying in 2024 and, now that 2025 is upon us, I’m gearing up for all the new adventures it’ll bring. As a beach lover, I am trying to tick off all the world’s most exotic island locations. I’ve managed to get through quite a few: Fiji, Tahiti, the Maldives, Mauritius, Guam, Bali, Hawaii and Zanzibar, so far. This year, I’m coming for the Seychelles (pictured)! I am also looking forward to keeping up with my exercise routines and reconnecting with friends back home in Guatemala.

For 2025, I have one main resolution: to complete the Three Peaks Challenge, which means climbing the three highest peaks of England (Scafell Pike), Wales (Yr Wyddfa) and Scotland (Ben Nevis – pictured). I would love to start running more regularly, too. Another resolution, of course, is to travel more! My travel goals next year are to visit Iceland to see the northern lights and volcanoes, and to visit Budapest, which I’ve always thought looked beautiful. I would also love to travel to Japan or Thailand, as I’ve heard both are incredible!

My travel resolution for 2025 is to focus on destinations that are slightly more ‘off the beaten path’, aiming for slower, more meaningful travel experiences. One place I’d really like to visit this year is Georgia, especially with our new route to the capital, Tbilisi (pictured), launching at the end of March. Mountains, monasteries, wine… I think it’s somewhere that can offer a unique and diverse itinerary.

My New Year resolution is to better understand mental health – both to stay on top of my own and to be a better support for others around me. I’m finding its more important than ever to look after ourselves and give back to others. By learning more about mental health best practices, how to deal with difficult situations and the like, I should be better equipped to do both. As for travels, I’d love to find some Zen with a visit to Japan (pictured). I just love the culture and lifestyle out there so much – I’d love to embrace it myself!
