With a new route announcement, Black History Month and 100 years of flying to India, it’s a real time for celebration – and coffee

October: Black History Month
Every October, Black History Month is celebrated across the UK, recognising and celebrating people of African and Caribbean heritage and their remarkable achievements and contributions. Our very own Being of Minority Ethnicity (BeME) colleague network will be celebrating Black History Month across British Airways with our colleagues and customers.

In our T5 lounges, we offered two delicious and refreshing drinks. The fruity Parks Rum Punch includes one of Barbados’ finest exports, Mount Gay rum, while the zesty Chapman is a popular Nigerian mocktail. Plus, there was a book corner filled with thrilling page-turners by celebrated and up-and-coming Black authors to take away and kick back with pre-flight. Earlier this month, you might have spotted dance and music performances by Caribbean and African artists in Terminal 5. But celebrations don’t stop at the airport – there’s also a Black History Month collection available to watch on board long-haul flights.

Celebrating 100 years of India and British Airways
Britain today wouldn’t be the same without its special relationship with India – and vice versa. In light of this, we’re going all out to mark 100 years of connecting Britain with India and the world. The official anniversary is 10 November 2024, but celebrations started earlier this month and are set to conclude at the end of November.

The occasion is being marked in the air with bespoke signature menus that showcase the rich flavours of Indian cuisine, while Twinings Chai spiced black tea and Godawan Indian whiskies (drinks frequently requested by our Indian passengers) will be served. Also, during your travels, don’t forget to look out for our exclusive ‘100 years’ logo – on digital screens, the on-board menus and entertainment. Speaking of in-flight entertainment, you’ll find 100 Indian titles in the ‘Best of India’ channel.

A new coffee partnership takes to the skies
From a café in Shoreditch to homes all over the world, Grind is on a mission to change the way we drink coffee for the better. Now it is available in the air on board our London Heathrow and London Gatwick short-haul flights.

Available to pre-order via High Life Café or to buy on board are Grind’s new blends created exclusively for us: the creamy and chocolatey Flat White, the rich and full-bodied Long Black, and the nap-friendly Decaf Black. Fancy something cold and refreshing? You can also buy a ready-to-drink can of Grind’s best-selling Iced Caramel Latte.

Finally, the coffee will be served in an exclusive dual-branded cup. Go here to get 50% off your first order of Grind’s speciality-grade coffee subscription.

Take off to the heart of Georgia
British Airways has added a new route to the roster. From 30 March 2025, we will fly four times a week direct from London Heathrow to the historic Georgian capital of Tbilisi. A birthplace of winemaking, Tbilisi is the perfect place to eat and drink well, climb (there’s adventure to be had in the nearby Caucasus Mountains) or wander the picturesque banks of the Mtkvari River. Drive out to witness some of the country’s most dramatic views from the dizzying Diamond suspension bridge (cycle across it if you’re brave enough), or explore new gastronomic heights within Tbilisi’s charming, cobble-stoned streets.
