A British Airways for everyone
Speaking at the World Travel Market in London last month, British Airways CEO Alex Cruz announced his plans for a £4.5bn investment to the airline over the next five years. The investment strategy includes the purchase of 72 new aircraft, new interiors for 128 aircraft in the existing fleet, upgraded catering for economy customers on long-haul, plus fast Wi-Fi in all cabins.

Best in show
Winning not one, not two but three prized gongs at this year’s Business Traveller Awards, British Airways came away with accolades for Best Short-Haul Carrier, Best Frequent Flyer Programme, and Best Airport Lounge – giving the newly redesigned Concorde Room at London Heathrow T5 a prize-winning beginning. The awards were announced at London’s Royal Garden Hotel and, the British Airways founded oneworld also won big with Best Airline Alliance.
New route to Reykjavik
One of three new routes to European capital cities being launched by British Airways this winter, the Icelandic capital can now be reached twice weekly by a direct link from London City Airport. The first direct link from the Docklands to Reykjavik, the route officially launched on 30 October 2017 as a winter-only service, replacing flights to Granada, Spain which will resume in the summer of 2018. Dreamy departure
Thanks to the help of British Airways staff, volunteers and a few celebrity guests, this year the Dreamflight 2017 saw 200 children fly out on a jumbo jet destined for the fun-filled land of Orlando, Florida. Since its first flight in 1987, more than 5,600 children with a serious illness or disability have been sent in style to once-in-a-lifetime adventures with the Dreamflight team, which this year saw X-Factor winner Stacey Soloman and former EastEnder Joe Swash give the kids a supercharged Heathrow send-off.
