Looking for more ways to spend your Avios? The Executive Club’s Louise Wood answers your burning questions on the best ways to redeem those well-earned travel rewards

I’ve been sitting on my Avios for a while. What’s the best way to spend them?
There are many ways to redeem your Avios, but the most popular is to use them on your next flight with us. We have lots of seats available to book a Reward Flight Saver (RFS) flight, either in Euro Traveller or Club Europe when flying short haul. Or, if there are no RFS seats available, you can save money on nearly any fare with Avios using Avios Part Payment, with savings starting from £5 on one-way flights for as little as 625 Avios.

What are the benefits of RFS?
Unlike a standard reward flight, on RFS you pay a flat rate of £35 return in Euro Traveller or £50 return in Club Europe – which covers taxes, fees and carrier charges – plus the Avios required. The other great thing is the flexibility you get with your ticket, because you can change or cancel up to 24 hours before your outbound flight for a small fee.

How do I know if I am eligible for RFS?
Reward Flight Saver is available to all Executive Club Members who have collected at least one Avios in the past 12 months. If you’re not eligible, we’ll show you the standard reward flight price instead.

And what if I want to travel outside of Europe?
If you want to travel to one of our further-flung destinations, we guarantee four World Traveller and two Club World seats on every long-haul flight. These can get snapped up quickly so we always recommend you book as early as possible – we release seats 355 days in advance.

There are so many benefits with Avios – use them to save money off your next trip

Do you have insider tips for booking a reward seat? Does flying off-peak help?
The best time to book is as far in advance as possible to secure a reward seat.  We have peak and off-peak dates throughout the year and, on the whole, travelling off-peak makes it not only easier to find availability, it requires fewer Avios, plus your taxes, fees and carrier charges. It’s always worth checking a day or so either side of your preferred dates in case there is an off-peak fare.

I have fewer than 8,000 Avios. Can I still reap some benefits?
If you don’t have enough Avios for a reward booking, you can still save money on nearly any fare using Avios Part Payment. The great thing about this option is you can still collect Avios and Tier Points, which all help towards saving money off your next flight.

What else can I spend my Avios on?
You can also use your Avios to upgrade your seat to the next cabin*, or book a hotel, car hire and, in some destinations, experiences. You can now also use your Avios to purchase food and drink on board our domestic and European flights. Find out more at ba.com
