The must-sleep suites at Blue Waters, Antigua

This all inclusive paradise has long been amongst the most resplendent resorts in the Caribbean. Now, it’s ready to introduce a whole new level of luxury with restored, sea-facing Cove Suites. On the lookout for the best night’s sleep in the Caribbean, we unlock the secret at Blue Waters Resort & Spa, Antigua

They're huge

They’re huge

First things first, both the Cove Suites and Cove Penthouses are gigantic; guests can luxuriate in over 730 sq ft (suites) or 2,690 sq ft (penthouse) of open-plan glory. The former features an entrance hall, en-suite bathroom, double-spread bedroom, living area and covered terrace, while the latter – a double storey playground for families – come with all the above, plus a kitchen and extra bedrooms. Not only are the rooms spacious, they’re designed to reflect the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea outside, so you can be at your tropical best 24/7. Then there's the outrageous full-length infinity pool – overlooking the ocean, no less...

They're on the waters edge

How to access the Caribbean Sea from your Cove Suite – spend a few minutes sauntering from your deluxe room down the beach and jump on in. The beauty of these ocean-front chateaus is that you're just a short stoll from the beach at any given time. There is also something unquestionably magical about sharing a bottle of Champagne on a private veranda, watching the sun disappear behind the ocean, and tucking in for the night to the sound of rolling waves and a calming, tropical breeze.

They're really really new

They’re really, really new

The renovations to the Cove buildings were completed as recently as December 2018. Blue Waters describe them, quite rightly, as the ‘pride and joy’ of the resort and you can see why. The interior bedrooms and living spaces have been completely refreshed with bright white, shiplap-clad walls and ocean-hued blue and green fabrics. They also feature bespoke Vincent Sheppard furniture, new 50-inch screen smart TVs, integrated domestic mini bars and Nespresso coffee machines. The terrace is roof covered and features luxury deckchairs so you can read in shade and comfort. It’s up to you (and the weather) how much time you spend inside but, for every minute you do, rest assured you won’t have to lift a finger.

There's plenty for the kids

There’s plenty for the kids

If you can drag them away from the luxury villa, the resort itself has a fantastic kids club for 4-12 year olds; activities include arts and crafts, football, tennis, cricket, jewellery design and even ice-cream trips. That’s not to mention a crèche for the little ones, taking children from 14 months through to three years. On-site staff are trained by Worldwide Kids’ expert trainers, so your little ones will be in the best hands. The beaches themselves are safe and privately owned, meaning you can spend quality time out on the sand for as long as you like without disturbance. Finally, all food menus are kid-considerate – including a variety of children’s buffets and early dining options.

It's an adults playground

Now that the kids are taken care of, it’s time to steal away for some sophisticated fun. There is an almost unlimited number of ways to spend your quality time at the resort – highlights include sea-breeze yoga in the outdoor pavilion; battling it out on the floodlit tennis court; indulging in treatments by British organic brand Ila at the first-rate spa, and toasting the setting sun at any of the three intimate restaurants (each with panoramic ocean views). The resort also offers exclusive ‘romance’ packages – think Champagne and chocolates on arrival and couples massages – plus rum tastings with their expert, Tario.
