An insider guide to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida

If you’ve spotted any large spaceships flying overhead recently, don’t be alarmed; they’re probably on route to planet Earth’s first-ever intergalactic space port, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Ready to be thrilled? We answer four burning questions ahead of your most sensational trip yet

What is Star Wars Galaxy's Edge
1

What is Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge?

A big deal. Star Wars™ fans have spent the last four years charging their lightsabers and revving their speeder bikes in anticipation for the opening of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida’s 14-acres of immersive, Star Wars™ themed land. This gigantic new spaceport is home to custom shops, diners, cantinas, droid-designing depots, lightsaber workshops and a life-size Millennium Falcon (which you can fly). Whether you’re fighting against the First Order or just a humble ship smuggler passing through, there really is something for everyone. Need to refuel after a trip to hyperspace? Quench your thirst with the technicolour milk, once drunk by Luke Skywalker himself, at the Milk Stand before gobbling up a grilled sausage and roasted pork wrap at Ronto Roasters
Disney top tip: Download the Play Disney Parks app to interact with your fellow droids and decode the Resistance clues dotted around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge*.

Why Visit in Autumn?

Why visit in autumn?

If you can tear yourself away from the Stars Wars™ universe, then Fall into Magic – a series of autumn events, including an exclusive Epcot International Food & Wine Festival with 30 global marketplaces, celebrity chefs and culinary workshops (29 August to 23 November 2019). Also, Mickey’s ‘Not-So-Scary’ Halloween Party, which sees Magic Kingdom Park transformed into a trick-or-treat paradise. If that’s not enough then you can also play around with two hours of exclusive evening access to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s also worth considering that Florida’s climate is wonderfully mild at this time of year, so can skip the summer scorch and enjoy time in the Disney outdoors.
Disney top tip: Mickey’s ‘Not-So-Scary’ Halloween Party has a ton of thrilling dining options, but best of all? Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way, where the puppy snatcher herself comes out to play…
